Hawaiian islands offer so much fun stuffs to do during your stay. Here is Five Great O'ahu Hikes.
- Manoa Falls (Waihi Falls): Only a 20 minutes drive from Waikiki. It is the most accessible. One of O'ahu's easiest rainforest hikes.
- Makapu'u Point Lighthouse Trail: Located at the easternmost point of O'ahu. Climbs volcanic sea cliff terrain along a paved road. During the winter (November - March) you will see migrating Humpback Whales in the distance. You can see the neighbering island (Maui nui and tip of Big Island) during your hike. At the lookout, you will see ocean view of O'ahu's windward coast and Manana and Kaohikaipu islands.
- Ka'Iwa Ridge Trail (Lanikai Pillbox) Hike: You will see coastline views of Kailua, Lanikai and the offshore Mokulua Islands.A short 1.6 miles roundtrip hike.
- Waimea Valley: The 1,875 acres Waimea Valley has been a sacred place for Native Hawaiians for 700 years. A 1.5 mile nature walk along a paved road with paid admission or a guided hike to the ridge summit. There is ancient Hawaiian archaeological sites (a 150 acres botanical collection, native and endangered birds and cultural activities.)
- Ka'ena Point Natural Area Reserve: Located on the northwestern tip of O'ahu in a 59 acres natural area reserve. 6 miles hike follows an old railroad bed and flat dirt path. One of the last intact coastal dune ecosystems in the Hawaiian Islands. Home to nesting seabirds, monk seals, and other native coastal species.
Hiking tips: Bring lots of water, sunscreen and ample snacks.
